I saw my first
Siberian whilst on holiday in Florida in 1982, I was immediately captivated
by the beauty and character of the breed and determined to have one. When I
got home I did a little research and discovered a breeder in Southampton, as
luck would have it, the breeders were Mike and Lynn Harrison and I was able,
after an “interview” to be put on their waiting list, finally in November
1983, Tovarich was born and the following January I brought him home. He was
just what I wanted, a grey and white, blue eyed bundle of fun although the
cats were not impressed!
This was the beginning
of quite a change in lifestyle, having only intended one as a pet, I quickly
decided that he needed a playmate and so when the next litter was born I
went up and chose “Ushka”. Of course the next step was going to a show,
then taking him up to Mike and Lynn’s for a trial in harness - need I go
on?
I have now had this lovely breed for 21
years and can’t imagine life without them. Whilst I do enjoy showing and
judging the breed, the working aspect is what I love most and where the
majority of our time is spent.
