News for 2007/2008 season.
Unfortunately the planned litter from Chalkie and Charley did not happen. Back to the drawing board now to decide where to go from here. However, we do have a few options in mind, but will not be deciding until next year.
Graham will be running 6 or 4 dog and 3 dog, and canicross or bikejoring. Teams will be decided at our training weekend at Ae Forest in October.
Sue - clinging onto 4 dog (if I can get a lead dog!) Also occasional forays into the veteran class. Looking forward to trying out the Quadriga, who knows, she might be persuaded to try 8-dog class………. Or maybe not, who knows?
Ellie, in training for the Juniors – only 2 seasons to get the hang of it!
Charley & Bandit are providing experience for two of Roger Lawson’s Girls and running in 4 dog.
Smiler & Drift, Debbie Brading will be manhandling these two up to the start in the 2 dog this year.
Proposed mating between Tupilak’s Chalkie x Laikas Charley at Kiriak.
After a great deal of consideration, the Rykalov Kennel is pleased to announce that we have decided to go ahead with the mating of Laikas Charley at Kiriak and Tupilak’s Chalkie.
Charley is a daughter of Laika’s Harlequin and Tupilak’s Pistol, she will run in most positions on the team and when mated with Tupilak’s Rusty produced some outstanding dogs. Chalkie has been an outstanding dog in his career, he led Peter Carroll’s team to many a victory, and at the age of 10 led Graham’s team around the Aviemore trail, resulting in one of few teams to run the course in under 14 minutes. His two daughters have proved phenomenal in harness and are unbeaten in the 2006/07 race season. We consider it a pleasure and a privilege to have Chalkie and his brother Trooper at the Rykalov Kennel
The 2006/2007 Rally season
This is well over half way through and, to date, we are having great success. Training has gone very well and Graham’s dog teams have enjoyed 9 wins out of 8 races (See results page for 4 & 2 Dog teams). Of particular note are Millie & Lia (Tupilak’s Chalkie x Jefna Manship Chado) who are in lead and set a cracking pace for the rest of the team.
Team Updates
Looking forward to the next season we have several new dogs coming through and showing great promise. Again Rykalov’s Harris & Rykalov’s Doc (Tupilak’s Chalkie x Jefna Manship Chado) will be in the 6 dog team next year making this team a complete home bred team.
Sue has also some up and coming new dogs in the shape of Cimarron’s Fairest Maid and Khodies Ghost to shape up a new four or possibly 6 dog team on her new Quadriga Rig (See Kit Update)
Kit Update
This summer we are looking forward to taking delivery of the new Quadriga 4 wheel rig made by Cudos Rigs. This is a revolutionary new design here in the UK and the prototype has been receiving rave reviews from top flight musher’s that have tested it. There are 4 wheeled rigs in Europe, but they pale in comparison.
